Nepal requests Saudi Arabia to donate 10,000 kl oil
Kathmandu, The government has requested Saudi Arabia to provide 10,000 kl of petroleum products in assistance to Nepal.
The Ministry for Commerce and Supplies has written to the Saudi government to provide oil, in view of the ongoing fuel crisis in Nepal caused by India’s unofficial blockade. The ministry’s joint-secretary Shiva Prasad Tripathi said, “The fuel aid from China which came to Nepal a few weeks ago gave some relief to the people. So we thought the Saudis could also help.”
The ministry has also requested the Saudi government to make arrangements to deliver fuel directly to Kathmandu. According to ministry sources, the letter was sent after Saudi diplomats indicated that the kingdom may be able to supply fuel to Nepal.
China silent on more aid
Tripathi informed that China has remained silent on Nepal’s request to provide 5,000 MT cooking gas, 2 million litres petrol and 4 million litres diesel, in the form of aid.
