Nepali Congress, UDMF leaders hold inconclusive but positive talks


Kathmandu, December 22. The main opposition Nepali Congress and the United Democratic Madheshi Front held talks at NC President Sushil Koirala’s residence in Maharajgunjon Tuesday. Participating leaders described the talks, which were inconclusive, as positive.
UDMF leaders, including Mahantha Thakur and Laxman Lal Karna, participated in the talks with the NC.
After the parleys, Karna, Parliamentary Party leader of the Sadbhavana Party, said: (Today’s) talks were inconclusive. Talks are continuing.
He described the exercise as positive.
The UDMF will respond to the government’s three-point proposal after internal discussions on the same.
NC Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel said his party was positive towards the UDMF’s demands.
The Congress is flexible on the issue of citizenship, Poudel said, adding that the party will arrive at an understanding on province delineation after holding talks with other political parties.
